PDF Studio: local processing with explicit safety limits
Kept copies a captured PDF into its macOS sandbox and processes pages, text, images, edits, thumbnails, and exports on the Mac. PDF content is not uploaded to a Kept server. A document leaves Kept only when you explicitly export, paste, or share it.

250 MB file limit
PDFs over 250 MB are refused before editing. Split or compress a larger document, then copy or import it again.

Large-document session budget
For very large PDFs, one editor session loads the first 80 pages and shows both loaded and total page counts. The managed original is preserved.

Why a PDF may not open
Empty or damaged files, missing managed copies, files macOS cannot decode, and some password- or permission-protected documents cannot be edited safely.

When exact font, glyph, permission, or object replacement cannot be proven safe, Kept blocks that edit instead of silently corrupting the PDF.

PDF text language support
Native PDF text edits currently focus on Latin-based languages and simple Unicode characters when the original PDF font can safely write them. Complex shaping scripts are planned for a future update.

Save updates the local PDF record managed by Kept. It does not upload the document or overwrite a source file outside Kept's sandbox. Export, paste, and share remain explicit actions.

Save as New Copy keeps the existing Kept record and creates another local item so you can retain both versions.

Kept does not need an internet connection for its core features. Clipboard history, boards, rules, settings, and backups are designed to remain on the Mac.

Local Library storage
Kept stores its library inside the user's macOS container. Small Keychain records hold an anonymous Support ID and free editor counters; they contain no clipboard or PDF content.

Hidden sensitive items

Frequently asked questions
Does Kept collect personal data from the app?
No. The Kept app does not collect, transmit, sell, or share clipboard data with the developer. If you choose to write to support, we receive the email you send — that exchange is covered in our Privacy Policy.
Does Kept sync between devices?
No. Kept has no automatic cloud synchronization. You can manually export and import your history when needed.
Does Kept make automatic backups?
While Kept is running, it can create one local snapshot per day and removes snapshots older than 30 days. Snapshots stay in Kept's local container and are never uploaded.
Where is my history stored?
Your Kept history and settings are stored locally inside your Mac's application container (~/Library/Containers/com.yunusislegel.kept).
Can I delete my Kept data?
Yes. Clear history in the app and remove Kept's local application container to delete the library. To remove the small local identifiers and editor counters too, use Keychain Access to delete com.kept.support and com.yunusislegel.kept.editUsage.v1.
Does Kept upload clipboard content?
No. Clipboard capture, PDF and media editing, search, rules, and backups stay on your Mac. Kept never attaches clipboard files to a support email automatically.
Why does Kept ask for Accessibility permission?
Only direct paste from the quick panel needs this optional macOS permission. It lets Kept send the paste shortcut to the app you selected. If you do not grant it, copying from Kept and pasting yourself still works.
Why didn't my PDF open?
PDF Studio refuses files over 250 MB, missing managed copies, empty or damaged PDFs, and documents macOS cannot read. Password or permission protection can also block safe editing. Copy or import the file again, confirm that it opens in Preview, or split and compress a very large document.
Why can I edit only the first 80 pages?
PDF Studio bounds very large editing sessions to the first 80 pages so interaction remains responsive. The editor shows loaded and total page counts, and preserves the managed original. Split the PDF when you need to work on later pages.
Which app languages does Kept support?
Kept's interface is localized in English, Turkish, German, Spanish, French, Japanese, and Brazilian Portuguese.
Which PDF text languages are supported today?
PDF Studio currently supports native text replacement best for Latin-based languages such as English, Turkish, German, French, Spanish, and Portuguese, plus simple Unicode characters that the original PDF font can safely write.
Why are some Arabic, Indic, Thai, Hebrew, or Korean text edits blocked?
Those writing systems can require complex shaping, direction, joining, or mark positioning. Kept is preparing a future shaping-engine update for broader language coverage. Until then, unsafe replacements are blocked instead of risking broken PDF text.
Why does PDF Studio say a text object is protected?
Some PDFs do not expose enough safe font, Unicode, clipping, transparency, or layout evidence for direct editing. Kept keeps the original object intact and reports the limit rather than creating a fake or destructive edit.
